First Print on ZMorph 2.0 SX

In this tutorial, you will learn how to prepare and start your first 3D print from a file provided with your ZMorph 2.0 SX.

First of all, you need to make sure that the shipping didn’t change the leveling of bed. If the bed is uneven, it will cause problems with sticking prints to the bed and in the worst case, the nozzle will crack glass surface.

MOUNTING COOLING FANS

To achieve perfect quality of your prints it is necessary to attach cooling fans to your x-carriage. Take them out of your toolbox and slide them into it's appropriate slot. It is not important which fan goes to the front and which one to the back. Make sure your A cable is connected.

It is also recommended to open machine's cover when printing with PLA to avoid overheating the filament.

FILE SELECTION

Go to Main Menu > New Job > Select File, then go to the Examples > 175_300_Extruder. Choose a file, appropriate to your extruder:

  • Astronaut_175_FP.gcode for 1.75 Plastic Extruder and Dual PRO Extruder
  • Astronaut_raft_300.gcode for 3.00 Plastic Extruder

You should see a green tick icon below Select File button now.

PREHEATING

Now, tap the Set up Material and choose Preheat PLA (if you wish to print with ABS, choose Preheat ABS or tap Custom for different materials), you should be moved back to the New Job menu and should see a yellow rotating circle indicating the preheating process. Wait for the yellow icon to change into a green tick, the same as when selecting a file. Be careful, because the nozzle and the bed started heating and will be hot.

Note: This method applies to printers produced before 2017.

Take out rollers from the box. Click in two rollers into bottom slots of the side cover and tighten it with provided M3x20 screw. Take the spool, lean it on bottom rollers, and insert the top one by twisting it and sliding down until it holds the spool in place.

FEEDING THE EXTRUDER

Take the tip of the filament and slide it through PTFE guide tube until it reaches drive gear of the extruder. Push the tube until it reaches the extruder. Now tap the Set up Material button again, then tap Load/Unload Material button. Tap the red double arrow facing down, and make sure the filament is pushed by the drive gear. Wait for the material to flow out of the nozzle.

PRINTING

When the material flows out of the nozzle, go back twice to the main menu, and tap Print button. Now the machine will start printing.

Wait for your printer to finish the print - it should take around 1.5 hours. Gently lift the print from the bed using provided spatula and you can enjoy your first print!
